How does educating boys on well-known neurodivergent people in society change their perspective on and behavior towards neurodivergent students in their classroom?
My research focuses on stigma associated with neurodivergent disorders, such as ADD/ADHD. The goal of this project is to evaluate what 5th grade students already know about neurodivergence, provide mini lessons about various (famous) people in society, then see if the perception of any stigmas associated with neurodivergence changes. Ultimately, it would be tremendous if students who do have a diagnosis of neurodivergence feel more welcomed and accepted, especially after boys who do not have a diagnosis learn more about these learning differences.
